The Eye-Q Two Cities Marathon and Half marathon, which takes place in November, is Fresno’s popular marathon/half marathon race. The Two Cities full marathon race is fairly new, since the first race that was offered was in 2008. Previously, Fresno only offered the Trail of T...wo Cities Half Marathon, which was run for the previous six years. In the past, the Trail of Two Cities half marathon has drawn more than 1,000 runners out each year to run the streets of Fresno. If you’re looking for a fast course to run, look no further. The Two Cities Marathon is a certified, fast course run on paved pedestrian pathways and perfect for the seasoned veteran qualifying for Boston as well as the first-time marathoner. The wide paved-surface paths, which are popular for walkers, joggers and cyclists throughout the year. Runners start making their way northward toward Willow Avenue, which takes them all the way back up to Shepherd Avenue for another long straightaway for the last third or so of the race. Runners turn off Shepherd at the bike path just before reaching the start line, and then head along Audubon Drive and then cross into Woodward Park, whose 300 acres welcome the finishing runners with shade and wide open meadows. This marathon is held in California's inland valley area in the middle of the state and is about a three-hour drive from San Francisco. The city of Fresno typically sees very hot and dry summers that lead into cooler, slightly wetter fall seasons. In November, average monthly temperatures range between 63°F and 42°F, while rainfall totals average about 1.10 inches for the month. read more
