    Chicago Spring Half Review

This half marathon is sponsored by the "Magellan Development Group", trying to promote living in the area the race start/finish is. It's an affordable half marathon ($55) and a good time in the calendar to run a half.

However, the start is ridiculously crowded, and there was a shortage of port-a-potties pre-race. The course is an out and back along the lakefront, so the entire race can feel crowded, especially when traffic starts going both ways. Plenty of aid stations/volunteers help that, and mile markers/times at each mile was nice. The medal looks good, and the post race picnic looked even better.

To me it seems like it's great race for somebody running their first half, but not as much for somebody looking to PR. The race is only a few years old so hopefully they can shake the kinks out.
