    Mountain Madness 50K trail

When they said there were rocks, they meant it! This was my first trail run, was expecting a dirt road with some rocks. It was the other way around, all rocks and some dirt roads. Couldn't run most of the race but instead walked (and crawled some climbs). First segment of the race wasn't well marked and most of the front runners couldn't find the trail and lost valuable time and momentum. After the aid station the markings were better. I still lost the trail multiple times since need to look down where to put my feet and missed the trail marks. The lake and woods are picture perfect and weather was great. Couldn't even feel the wind which I was afraid of because of the storm alert.
I was hoping to finish in six hours but only at mile 20 by then. Considered DNF at this point but kept going on since I have to walk on the trail to find my way back to the finish line. The runners were spread very thin and for a long time there weren't anyone in sight in front or back of me.

My goals in order: Finish, don't fall, finish in 6 hours.
    I didn't fall, so I achieved 2 out 3, not bad.

Had I known it was this hard, I'd have tried the 25K instead.

Damage report: 1 black toe, 1 blister.
