Mission 10 (Miles) San Juan Bautista

The Mission 10 is a nice race, overall. It's low-key and friendly. The Pre-reg people did not have my registration, however, and the guy at the table suggested that I needed to pay twice to run, but the race director remembered me and let me run without paying again.

This is a nice Lollipop course--basically a big loop with one out-and-back portion. There is a longish uphill portion that lasts for awhile but is actually the most fun part of the course. And the bonus is that on the way back, you have a really nice downhill. From mile seven to mile ten, there isn't much: It's flat with long stretches of road. But it's all good in the end. Oh, they had chip timing this year, which I think is great; however, they didn't post the times at the end of the race, so we'll see if everything went OK.

I like this race, having done it maybe six or seven times. And I will continue to use it as the first-season test of running skill.
