Final time for my first Olympic triathlon, 2:59:52. 376/636 overall; 28/56 age group.

Start: A little late because there was a long line of cars waiting to get into the park.

T1: I tested the path from the water to transition before the start and discovered it was covered with pain-inducing acorns. I'm a baby when it comes to my feet. So I stashed a pair of old sneakers by the exit of the swim. Up the slippery rock steps from the water, slipped on the shoes, and I was able to pass lots of people on the way to transition. Probably spent a little more time than I needed cleaning off my feet. But pretty pleased with my time. 17/56 in age group

T2: I sat down to put on my socks and shoes which is a first. Tried a sip of the Heed and spit it out. Grabbed my gear and put it on as I was running out of transition but then noticed I was still wearing my helmet. Oops. I can do better next time. 27/56 in age group.

Finish: Nothing left to sprint at the end. If I knew I was as close to being under 3 hrs as I was, I would have sprinted. It felt so good to be done since the run was not fun. 2nd best thing given to me at the finish line was the bottle of icy water with an equally icy wet washcloth. LOVE IT! I wiped my face and arms and wrapped it around the back of my neck. I ate some food, did a little stretching, stayed in the shade. I took my time before leaving since I wasn't feeling so good. I had a 2.5 hour drive home.

This was such a great race. My favorite triathlon so far. I would definitely do it again. Hopefully next time my family will be able to make it. I was pretty sad at the end when I looked around seeing all the families and I was there alone.
