Goofy's Challenge & a Half at Disney World

This is both the 1/2 marathon & the full marathon at Disney World in Orlando, FL. It was tough but good. Almost all the characters are out on the course cheering you on, with all the cast members. You get to run through the parks, and see everything. Highly enjoyable race. I loved it.

Wow, looking at all your runs today, makes my 4 mile run seem pretty paltry. I gotta just keep in mind that I just did a marathon last weekend.

I'm one of the hosts of the "Running with the Pack" podcast (on iTunes or at http://parkedthoughts.com). I'm signed up to do the Goofy Challenge in 2011 for the first time and will be talking about my training for it - mostly after I finish the Chicago Marathon in October.

For now, my plan is to do a full marathon training program with long runs on Sundays, but also doing an additional half-long run on Saturdays. I imagine my final long-run weekend being 10-11 on Saturday and 20-22 on Sunday. I'll be doing light workouts on Mondays and Fridays to prepare and recover and medium runs (4-8 miles) on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

So that's the plan for now. I'll see how it goes and maybe switch to a run/walk interval system. I should also mention that I'm planning on running both races at a slower than usual pace to handle the two-day effort. Trying to set a PR during the Goofy Challenge sounds like a bad plan.

I completed the full marathon last year, but this year we decided to do the gooffy challenge. Whats the best way to train for this?
