Lexington Half Marathon
Yesterday I set a PR by over 16 minutes at the Lexington Half! Despite the horrible rain and wind, I felt really strong and am thrilled to have seen so much improvement in my fitness. Special thanks to my hubby for "pacing" me through the race. I have such a hard time keeping myself from going too fast and burning out. It was a huge help to have him there keeping me from speeding up too much!
The race itself was on a beautiful course and had the usual issues that an inaugural race faces. The biggest issues were the parking for the race (it took us nearly an hour to even get into the parking lot), the lack of port-a-pots on the course (I only saw four), and the lack of spectators (partly due to weather and partly due to difficulty of spectators in getting to the course). Volunteer support, however, was outstanding and a huge thank you too all the wonderful volunteers out there in the cold, windy rain along the course cheering us on and giving us water!
