Surprisingly great weather!
With the forecast all week looking terrible, I think we all expected the worst - ended up being a pretty nice day for the race. Much nicer than the freezing cold of last year!
The one thing I did not like was how you had to cross over the course around mile 10-11 - had to run through all the runners who were around mile 6-7 still. ridiculous! could have been really bad.

Race Report
After an awful week where I had a cold that kept me pretty miserable, it was great to feel better in time to run this race. I hadn't run a mile in ten days, so I wasn't sure how I would feel getting out there, but it was a good race. 2:01 is a personal best for me. I got to the 6 mile marker at 53 minutes flat, and the ten mile marker at 1:30:13, but the hills in the last three miles of the course wore me down and I was unable to maintain that pace. I'm happy with my time and thrilled with the weather - 40 degrees and cloudy, a perfect day for a run.

A decent race overall.
Overall I would give this race probably a 3.5/5. We lucked out on the weather, which was supposed to be snow/rain, but we had clouds and somewhat warm (40s) weather instead. The race start was disorganized and began 10 minutes after it was supposed to, and they kept backing us up because the elite runners didn't want to get to the start line like they were supposed to. I didn't really care because it was chip timed with D-tags, but it's annoying when everyone is crowded together and trying to back up.
The water stops were great with plenty of water and gatorade. The course was mostly flat with only a few gradual hills. I wish there were more spectators throughout the route, but the finishing chute was awesome! The post-race area was awesome too. it was nice to have it inside with warm soup, bagels, and drinks.
The medals are really nice with great a great ribbon on the medal, not just the generic red/white/blue fabric. I'd run this race again.
They do need to close down the roads though, some of them were, but most of the roads were only partially blocked, bottlenecking the main pack. And you can't help but feel bad for the people that did get stuck in their cars on some of the intersections that were closed, probably without warning to said drivers prior. More could have been done to prepare the traffic, especially for a race of about 4000 total participants.
More port-a-potty's were needed at the race start too, probably about double the number they had.

I would do it again...
The start was totally disorganized as were many aspects of the race weekend from the "expo" to the post-race party. You would think being the 30th year this race would come-off like a well-oiled machine. However, I found it lacking in many areas.
The Expo booths should have all been in the ballroom somehow. Having so many booths/vendors out in the hallway just created too much traffic and bottlenecking. It made it miserable just getting in and out or even going to the bathroom, etc.
As for the race, the only way that anyone from the 8:00 corral on back new the race had started was watching the runners in front take-off and the pack surging forward. The PA system was barely audible for most of the runners.
At least SOME of the roads should have been closed as I saw a lot of close calls between runners and cars. Then on Craigville Beach road when the lead runners were headed back while the majority of the pack was still headed-out it was a real cluster when the police motorcycles were trying to get through.
They should've just closed this section of the road instead of trying to force all of the runners (in both directions) to run down the same direction. People could've gotten hurt and from appearances very nearly did. Not to mention the lead runners becoming visibly agitated and yelling at everyone else to get out of their way.
As for the positives, the course was scenic beauty, mostly flat and as such very fast. This seems like it is definitely a place where everyone can go to set PR's (especially in the Half).
The number and chip pick-up went smoothly. The t-shirts are great, and the finisher's medals are impressive!
Positives and negative's I would definitely run this race again.
