This was an absolutely fantastic race. This was my first race and I had NO problems figuring out where to be or what to do.
There were only 650 runners or so, so it was a mass start. There was a small climb as we went on the the bridge in the first mile, but after that, very flat. The course is an out and back course run on a paved running/biking/walking trail.
There were plenty of volunteers on the course with aid stations every couple of miles or so. Being a small race, there was not much in the way of course motivation. Very few people other than the volunteers. Want music?? Bring your own. It is a very no frills type of course. The plus side is, that keeps registration fees down.
There is a large indoor area where friends and family can wait for their runners to finish, and hamburgers and hot dogs after.
The only snafu that I could find was lack of shirts. When I registered at Fleet Feet the day before, they were out of large size shirts. They wanted to put my name on a list, but when I told them I lived 2 hours away, they made a special case and gave me someone elses.
This is a GREAT race which I hope to repeat next year and as many years as I can.
