St. Patty's Day Dash
The weather for the race this year was perfect. Usually I'm down in Portland for the Shamrock Run (a personal favorite), but this year I stuck around for the St. Patty's Dash. Overall a really fun race, with a lot of spirit. There's a fun novelty to running on the 99 while it's completely closed - and the view at the turnaround, just at the edge of the Aurora Bridge, was perfect. Good crowds, good after-party. The finish chute was LONG, but there were Top Pot Doughnuts at the end, which pretty much makes up for that. :)

Race completed!
Great event with lots of participants! This was my 2nd race ever so bear with my review.
Pros - aid staff was great. Saw a few injured on the sides and they were well shielded from on coming runners and quickly cared for. Day was Sunny and bright and everyone upbeat and Chipper despite the Daylight Saving Time change. Parking easy to find considering it was DT Seattle.
Cons - The "5k" course was actually closer to 7. My friend and I both calculated closer to 4.5 than 3.7miles the website listed using our Nike+ equipment. Distance between finish line and water station too far. In fact - water station was depleted before end of red heat (2nd heat to run) came in. Finish Chute was also very clogged with people waiting to have timing 'chip' removed. They could have pulled this off to the side and caused less congestion in this area.

This was my first running event. It was great. The weather was awesome, and I had a lot of fun.
