  • A Great Race

Overall, this was a wonderful race to run. The hills at the end are very hard, but there are still several hills in the middle (just smaller). Aid stations are located throughout the course and race marshals and volunteers are on just about every street corner. Marines, EMTs, police, everyone is out there to make sure you stay safe and have a good race. Spectators varied from sleepy people on their porches to kids on the curb giving you high-fives. Porta-potties, water, and Powerade were located about every 2 miles. Traffic was very well controlled and was not an issue except at the very end of the race a few cars tried to get onto the course. Race tees were tech tees and the award was a nice, heavy medal. This was a very clean race. I drove by a water/Powerade/porta-potty station within an hour or so after the race ended and there was no evidence of a race having passed by (except a wet road). It was also a "green" race with bibs that could be planted to grow flowers, but that meant many runners lost theirs when it got wet (myself included, but I managed to pocket it before it fell off completely). Can't wait to run it next year!
