Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon

Running at night kicked my butt. But I really enjoyed running through Animal Kingdom.

I think it was interesting running at night and made for a much more pleasant run as far as temperature. However, it would have been a little better had they had the entertainment/encouragement at the end as well. It all stopped at around mile 10. The last 3 miles were in the dark and no music. Also, I couldn't take advantage of my one free taste/pour because the lines were SO long with 30,000 people in the park. Maybe the number needs to be capped a little lower next time.

I felt there was a lack of communication between the people that sell the race and the people that run the race. We were told in order for my family of 5 to see me finish that we had to purchase a $35 ticket for each of them. The kids were not interested in the Food and Wine, of course. They only wanted to see me finish. They could have seen me finish without paying, as we learned.

There were 11,000 runners and their family. You can imagine the crowd at the finish line. It was too tight of a space for such a large amount of people.

I am still not sure, where in all that, they had the awards ceremony. I always like watching that but never did see where that was. We made it back to the resort at 3AM with bored and tired teens.

If they want an after party to equal the Tower of Terror 13K then they need to have some attractions in Future World open to entertain the younger folks. Our nephew has Autism and needs interaction.

The course was fine. I did find it a little dark in areas and had a hard time seeing. I did see one poor lady trip and fall because of the lighting issues. I missed the spectators you normally get on Marathon Weekend.

Also, in case Disney is reading this, the fireworks at the start line might need to be moved somehow. I was at the start line in Corral A and the smoke from those fireworks burned your eyes and sort of clouded the start a little.

The volunteers and characters along the way were a big help in keeping you motivated. Although without spectators there were some blank areas.
