Who's the most famous athlete you've ever met? Share the details.

yes. based on what i saw, the biggest misconception is that you need to be super athletic to complete a tri. then again, it wasn't a super competitive event.

I met Dan Hampton at a convention. My wife got into a line and did know who she was going to meet. When she found out it was Dan Hampton she let me get in line with her. He was cool and funny. It was awesome. I also met Richard Dent at the same convention.

#dailymission Brent Emery. Silver medal cyclist in the 1984 Olympics. He owns a bicycle chain in the Milwaukee area. He's super nice and a great coach. Very personable. #dailymission Well I watched Amanda Beard swim once. We've got lots of awesome elite swimmers in Arizona so I've actually been at the same big meets before. I've met Ariana Kukors. Other than that, once I got to watch a day of the Patriots' training camp. (whoo.... not. My family thought this was SO COOL but I'm not a football fan. Was bored out of my mind.) I think we met some of the players but don't ask me who they were :P

#dailymission I met Lomas Brown when I was with Vegas with my family. I had no idea who he was but my dad recognized him and they began chatting it up. I immediately noticed his Super Bowl ring and commented on how nice it was. He then proceeded to take it off and hand it to me so that I could try it on. Really nice guy. And since I'm a Texas Ex I've had the opportunity to meet lots of other famous athletes including Colt McCoy, Jordan Shipley, and Sanya Richards Ross.

#dailymission I've never actually 'met' a famous athlete. I once had my shoes shined at DIA, while sitting between two Bronco players. And I've been in the house of a former Bronco quarterback, but I don't think he knew I was there.

I went to Detroit Lions training camp as a kid, and met all the players!

More recently, I saw Terrelle Pryor at a hotel near Ohio State - although he is more infamous than famous now.

#dailymission I was lucky enough to meet Kathrine Switzer at the Vancouver Marathon expo in 2011. She did a great talk about her experiences as a marathoner, including the story of the Boston Marathon where she was the first female to compete. Very inspiring, no matter which gender you are - it's hard to believe that it was just in the 70's that women were "allowed" to compete in the marathon.
