yes, our winter was incredibly mild too (i think i failed to run on maybe three days due to cold), so i was out in it. the worst hazards i experienced were artificial ice-melting chemicals and frozen slush after people had walked in it.
btw, there are pictures of the wounds i sustained in my album.10 months ago • Like

My 5th triathlon, the exit of transition (bike to run) passed by a tree. I came out of transition full sprint and tripped in front of all the spectators on a root that was sticking up from the ground. I flipped head over toes and continued running without slowing or missing one step only to realize I had broken the big toe on my left foot. I completed the run and placed 3rd in that triathlon with a very colorful toe. Never give up.

In all honesty, it could have been. I've eaten sushi before other runs w no problems. In fact, I had a great run this morning after sushi last night! I had a bad attitude going into that half, due to poor training so my body could easily have reacted to that. But I still won't eat it before another long run or race. :)

Sage advice....but hard to follow. Lots of people like running in super cute shoes that are super lightweight and flat but they end up altering their form significantly and injuring themselves. I agree with practicing speedwork in racing flats first and then transitioning to road races.

Tad, I didn't say I didn't like them. It was more a case of they didn't like me. Or, I didn't ease into em... Or, I shouldn't have jumped into em 2 weeks before a 1/2... or something I don't know I wasn't really paying attention.

Managing ego can be harder than managing miles or duration. I'm in that boat and hit rocks just like you. Not sure about a solution as memory only works for so long.
