What was your favorite race of 2011?

  1. #dailymission In 2011, as in 2010, was the National 24 Hour Challenge, a 24 hour bike race. In fact, it was my only "race". My most "pleasantly surprisingly enjoyable" ride w... read more

  2. #dailymission my fav 2011 race was Palo Duro 50K. It was a vacation run trip. Lots of family memories and I got to run 31 miles. It was amazing. I want to go back.

Ditto! I only did the 12 miler, but did a 50k in november. Did you like the 50k out there? I was thinking of doing that distance out there next year

YES! You should do the 50K! I wouldn't mind running the 50 miler out there. I loved it. By my second loop, I felt really comfortable with the course.

  3. #dailymission (What was your favorite race of 2011?) Grandma's Marathon. Would've been my favorite even if I didn't qualify for Boston there, but that helped!

That was a good one, although I wish it had heated up a little extra right after I crossed the finish line...

Grandma's for sure. BQ'd there too. Duluth and Lake Superior are beautiful. I went back in September for a weekend of sightseeing.

Interestingly Brian, Grandma's was the cause of my turning to tri's and finally to endurance biking. While training for Grandma's back in the mid-80s, I ran 14 miles indoors at WMU field house in a new pair of shoes and injured a tendon in my foot. I could never run long distances after that. that year turned out to be un-godly hot. Perhaps I was fortunate. Good running to you!

I had a blast in Oakland last year, too. I did it soley as a training run, so I was able to focus more on everything around me. I still remember some cracked-out spectators yelling, "Eastside Oakland!" But hey, they were out there cheering! hahaha

Too funny. I got to look at Tedy Bruschi's ass for about 3 miles of Boston Half. Awesome to have your family there for it!

It's funny because when I knew I could not hang with her, and I was doing about 8-8:10 pace to keep up, (she finished under 2 hours), I took my phone out and snapped a picture of her from the back as she smoked me. She's wearing her traditional #6 Chastain jersey. Nice Tedy story, hehehe :)

And I bet the college kids were stunned. Hell, I'm only 38 and the college kids couldn't fathom me finishing 7th at the Aurora Turkey Trot last year.
