Super-DMers, what food is your race-day Kryptonite?

  1. #dailymission I don't think I qualify for the "super Daily Miler" status BUT I do eat a bagel with peanut butter race day morning. It's comforting and yummy :)

Never tried Mt.Dew during an event. Hear a lot of people talk about it-not sure it's a good idea

I like instant oat flakes with milk 3 hours before a race (now since I'm a vegan I'd replace the milk with soy milk). It is easily digestible and gives me energy for about 10k.

No food!! No food is the difference between "only" gagging and puking as I dig deep in the last bit of a race. ^^

  11. #dailymission uhm, food is my race day kryptonite. i like a pre race meal of brightly colored pills

  12. #dailymission Mexican food the evening prior or coffee that morning. Not good at all before a big race or a long run!

  13. #dailymission Race-day Kryptonite? A heaping plate of pork tartare and a tumbler of Old Mr Boston vodka (neat). Theoretically speaking, of course.

  14. #dailymission Super-DMers, what food is your race-day Kryptonite? I once had scrambled eggs before a race... not good. Bananas are the only thing I can eat that early in the morning. :)

  15. #dailymission Super-DMers, what food is your race-day Kryptonite? Dairy!

  16. #dailymission: OK - my favourite pre-race meal is left over burritos but I will settle for left over pizza, pasta, gummy bears, anything with hot sauce, toast, left over chinese, anything in the ba... read more

Interesting that coffee, which it typically easy on stomach did that to you, but none of the aforementioned stuff did. Wow.

Coffee in the morning does that to me, too. Actually one of the things I like best about it! So no, I wouldn't be drinking it before a race, either. I save it to wash down the after-race pancakes with the family :-)

  17. #dailymission I must have an iron stomach! As long as I watch how much I eat before a run or race I can eat almost anything!

Also, this reminded me of the midnight race I did. There were a couple of college guys near me at the start who were absolutely bombed and I'm pretty sure they had tequila in their hand held bottles. I never saw them after the start - they finished far, far ahead of me. Ah, to be young.
