wow, that was totally my dilemma yesterdays race! I scored 2nd in my age group, got a bling, but was totally disappointed in my sucky time! I was trying to decide if I could forgo the medal and get a better time, if I would. (which I was NOT able to decide lol!)

Renee - my reasoning is that I personally will only place in charity races, and only if I'm lucky that not too many other truly strong runners compete in my AG. But to PR, I'm actually better off in a race with lots and lots of fast runners that will draw me along in their speedy vortexes :-)

I would take a win over a PR any time. Wins are very rare.
What if you won the race but not anywhere near your best performance or PR? Would it still be sweeter?

Got back from my first half marathon 3 years ago and my son told me that he saw online that I'd won first place. I told him there were hundreds of runners ahead of me. But he was right. I was first among old fat guys. I think this one depends on what category you're in!

Well I have a tale from last year, I ran a 4-mile race that I usually place around 5th. After the first quarter mile I was first, and ended up winning the thing. It was surprising but fun. I've run a faster time on this course but never won before. So the rarity of winning trumps a PR for me.

#dailymission got to love a win but definitely PR. If I did this to race other people I would be messed up!

win or PR? Which is sweeter? PR and take second place or win with a good, but not your best, time?
Like DJ Khaled, says, all I do is win!!!! (in my own mind . . .)
#dailymission neither. i run to have fun and better myself. i don't care about PRs and winning other than the fact that they show improvement.
