#dailymission ice bath?
I know this may be blasphemy around here, but I don't believe in them. Well, that's not exactly true. If you have inflammation or pain- then yes, it will help. ... read more9 people liked what Morey said-
I hate that I love the ice bath after a long run (or is that I love to hate it...) but the theory that I heard was the sudden contraction of your muscles from the ice bath flushes out all the lactic acids and then when you get out your muscles pull in a fresh blood supply. So as you said, you're increasing circulation. It took me a while to get used to them, and once I get running again it'll take time to readjust - but they work for me. I feel great later that day after an ice bath.
