    This is funny because this morning I ran a route I do all the time but I did it backwards. Not bad at all.

      Do you own a Mac? I use TrailRunner (trailrunnerx.com) to plan routes (both trail and street runs). I've found it indispensable for planning routes, especially when I'm looking for something new, or running in a city I don't know that well...totally worthwhile investment.

      Sorry @barefoot R. - I don't have any suggestions for *nix systems. I run them for web servers, but not for my desktop. Please post if you find one for you favourite flavour of linux.

      I like to mix it up a bit. I usually add on a few blocks to my last run, or take a different path - adds to the adventure of running/exercise!

      i did have some standard running courses, but have not mapped them. as i began to run more, i tried to get more variety in them.
