What do you do when a strange dog on the loose approaches you while you're out on the streets?

  1. #dailymission If I don't stick to it, I end up sitting in traffic for a long time. I workout close to my office rather than close to home.

  2. #dailymission I pet it. Cause I am crazy.

  3. There are way too many loose dogs in South Korea; most are more afraid of people than the other way around. I carry treats just in case and have actually made a few cainine friends that way...as lo... read more

  4. #dailymission: I change my route. A huge dog chased me home when I was in 3rd grade. While I am a dog lover I fear strange loose dogs no matter how big they are. I am always looking for an escap... read more

  5. #dailymission I try to keep the pit bull that's usually attached to my waist from trying to play with it. If the dog is aggressive, one growl and a lunge from said pit bull fixes the problem. ... read more

  7. #dailymission I run at them to scare them off, then run on and curse the owners for not taking care of their animals. You wanted a dog, you take care of it. -_-

Doesn't everyone run with bear mace?

  10. #dailymission I am going to do this daily mission twice (i already answered it earlier today). There are no strange dogs ONLY strange people. I fear people way more than any animal.

I don't fear dogs in Chicago, they are almost always well behaved. However, if I still lived where I grew up, I would avoid dogs as much as possible. There were a lot of untrained dogs that were rather viscous (and had no veterinarian care). But here, dogs are great!

I have heard from my biking friends that if you carry water, if need be, hit it with a splash

Try bringing some treats too. A few others mentioned that and I think it is a great idea.

  13. #dailymission I'm friendly if they have a friendly attitude. If the tail is down or teeth shown, I'm a loud and obnoxious mofo. Dogs don't like psychos.

My actual response to this would not be approved by the Humane Society. . . I'm still nursing a mangled foot and a shoulder injury from loose dogs. Still waiting to run (immense) pain free.

Oh ya. I forgot about your lovely encounter. I'm sure my attitude would be considerably different.

  14. #dailymission I'm just like "What up, Dawg?" Loose dogs are rare where I live, and they usually don't bother me if I see one. But if its owner is nearby, I'll rip '... read more
