      How about more durability?
Shoe companies seem to cater to a consumer culture that values replacing shoes/updating styles frequently. I'd rather have a pair that last 2-3000 miles.
It's definitely possible. I have a 13-year old pair of NB trail runners with at least that many miles on them. They were my only running shoe for ~5 years, now relegated to mud duty. They look and feel brand new, save for some peeling rubber on the toe guard. Been up Pikes Peak 4 times, and submerged in many creeks.

My K2s have held up pretty well. No where near 3000 miles on them yet, but I'm getting there.
