The dailymile Community and the Transformative Power of Exercise

We here at dailymile are a community of people who understand the value of exercise for the body, mind, and spirit. We are a community of people who understand the value of exercise in helping us manage the stresses of our everyday lives. We are a community of people who understand the value of exercise in allowing us to indulge in a nutritional vice (be it candy, beer, ice cream, pizza or any other calorically packed form of tasty goodness) as long as we keep logging the miles. Most importantly, we are a community of people who support and motivate one another as we strive to meet our fitness and exercise goals. We cheer each other on when we report our successes, we support each other when we’re down, and we provide each other a much needed kick in the pants when our motivation to move is flagging. This is what dailymile is all about – everyday people helping one another to do amazing things through physical activity.

To give you a feel for the type of people that you’ll find here, I offer you the following series of before/after photographs. These are all members of dailymile who have transformed themselves both mentally and physically by making exercise a regular part of their lives. As one of them myself, I can confirm that the support that I’ve found here on dailymile has contributed greatly to my own personal transformation. Feel free to click on any of these photos to visit our profile pages, and don’t hesitate to add any of us as a friend.

More than anything, what these photos show is a group of everyday people who have gone through incredible personal transformations simply by adopting an active life. My hope is that you’ll find these photos inspirational, and that they’ll help you to realize that anything is possible when you have a bit of determination, a willingness to work up a sweat, and yes, some help from your friends. dailymile is a place where you can find those friends, and all of us are here to help each other out. Whether your goal is to start a walking routine, run your first mile, race in your first road race, complete a triathlon, or win a marathon (yes, we have people here who have done that!), this is a place for you.

If you’re not already a member, go ahead and give us a try – we’re a free service, and creating an account is simple. If you’re already a member, please help us to spread the word about what a great place dailymile is and why people should join up – we are all part of this community together, and with your help we can continue to grow this community into something even more amazing than it already is. In the meantime, keep logging those miles!
