Today invitations for the 2011 dailymile team were extended to a few extremely engaged members of the community – 0.0015% of members, to be exact. These dailymilers will be given an opportunity to represent the community as ambassadors. You can learn more about the program on our team’s page.
What’s the dailymile team?
Last year Kelly and Ben kicked off the team program with the hopes that they could find a group of people to carry out the team mission: grow the community of active dailymilers and promote the activities we love by inspiring and motivating others.
The main responsibility of a team member is to do what they’re best at, be a dailymiler. Beyond that, the team focuses on coordinating meetups, writing blog posts, spreading the word about dailymile beyond the community, setting up sponsorship opportunities, and being an active contributor towards making dailymile a successful, fun, and healthy community.
How can I get involved?
We’d love to accept everyone interested from the community to join the dailymile team, but realistically we realize that this just isn’t possible with our community of 200,000 members. This year the team will be made of up 30 people and the community will vote to decide which of the applicants will make the cut. This morning about 300 emails went out to dailymilers who meet the baseline prerequisites, inviting them to apply for the 2011 team. In order to keep it manageable, we used these two prerequisites:
1. be an active member for the past six months
2. left over 800 encouraging, upbeat, or funny comments in the past six months
These are extremely demanding prerequisites for applying to the team, but by no means are they qualifications for being more involved. If you’ve got some great ideas for the team and want to help out then we’d love to have you involved so please let us know.
When do we get to vote on our team?
Your friends, family, competitors, and cheerleaders of the dailymile community will be voting on the 2011 team. On February 8th, we’ll post a link on the homepage to select the team.
Voting ends on February 15th, and on February 16th we’ll announce the 2011 team!
When will more invitations be extended?
If you want to be on the team, but didn’t meet the prerequisites this time, we’ll be inviting more people in about six months from now, so keep at it! If you have any questions, please let us know.
