Dailymiler of the week: Stephanie G.

Stephanie G.

We’re kicking off 2011 right with our first dailymiler of the week, Stephanie G.! Stephanie trains with her dogs in Hartsdale, NY.

(KS) What’s your favorite part about being on dailymile?
(SG) The greatest part about it is the feedback and motivations I get from like-minded people. It also lets me review my training and think about it and sometimes, re-evaluate it. Seeing my numbers black on white and in charts is awesome.

(KS) Who’s your biggest running fan?
(SG)
Huh, I have a fan? There are so many great runners out there and I’m just in the middle of the pack. But if I think about it again I must say it is my husband. He supports me in every way!

(KS) Any 2011 running resolutions?
(SG) Nope! I don’t make specific resolutions, don’t believe in them. I’ll train hard and want to be better no matter if a new year starts or not.

(KS) You live in a pretty cold place for winter running – have any advice on how to stay warm and keep training?
(SG) Have a goal for spring or summer and tell yourself this is just temporary! Training for a race will keep up the motivation and get you out of the house or gym even when it’s cold.

(KS) Any big races coming up for 2011?
(SG) I’m going to take my training step by step. So the next race I’m going to do will be still shorter ones until I feel confident enough to sign up for something bigger again.

(KS) I see that one of the reasons you’re on dailymile is to get advice – can you share some of the best advice you’ve gotten from the community since you’re joined?
(SG) The best advices I have gotten were all pads on my shoulder when I’ve had a bad run. Feedback like “tomorrow will be a better day and run”, help so much in that moment.

(KS) I’m about to get a new husky, have any advice for running with your dogs?
(SG) Be patient. If your dog has never done it before he/she will need to learn running next to you disciplined. This can take a while.

(KS) Random question of the day: if you could add once piece of kickass gear to the dailymile store, what would it be?
(SG) The Petzl headlamp! I couldn’t do all my early morning run without it. I’ve had for years and it still works super well and is so bright.
