The dailymile community keeps sharing some amazing content. Enjoy!
Special 5K | Grade school friends Evan S. and Jeremy C. cross the finish line mere moments from one another at the Coast Fest 5K. They hadn’t seen each other since they were caught passing a note in Mrs. Anderson’s class 10 years earlier. That’s showing her!
Dog Daze | Could you say no to this mug? Carrie says that her dog has a special way of letting her know whenever it’s time to log a walk around the block. Um, Carrie? It’s time.
Balancing Baby | Word is that dailymile’s youngest member, Caitlin K. is amassing a strong following for her balance ball workout streak.
Beginning the very day she was released from the hospital with her mom after her birth, she’s well into her fourth month of twice daily workouts … and continuing to go strong.
“Ga ga goo goo ga gaaaaa!” (“Go big or go home suckahs!”) she said, when asked what keeps her motivated. Another formula for her success? “A diet high in protein, rice cereal and pureed veggies and fruits keeps my energy up and my muscles growing,” she said. “Mix in lots of sleeping, too.”
GI Go | Todd L. shared a picture of a recent run in a neighborhood park. A civilian who’s never served in uniform, he says, “I don’t believe in putting limits on myself. Once I set out to do something, no matter how far-fetched, I train hard and go for it!” Soldier on!
Turf War | In a late-night rant, Leona Z. says she’s tired of dailymilers posting pictures of stunning vistas.
“What about grass?” she said. “Grass is so overlooked by you folks. We need more photos of lawns and seas of grass around here, people!”
This and 58 other stunning grass shots on her wall.
Head Game | The Caveman Diet’s all the rage, but eating right doesn’t have to be so bloody serious. After a successful kill, Morey G. likes dressing his meat properly. Yum!
Tri Cycle | Effervescent Cathy M. shared advice and a photo from her very first triathlon on her wall.
“I think the shoes were a poor choice, but the braids worked really well to keep the hair off of my face during the race,” she said.
Toting her husband and an overgrown neighborhood boy along was against the rules, she learned. And, as newbies do, she forgot to leave her purse in the staging area.
“Watch out,” she said, clearly not dissuaded. “I’ll come back strong next year!”
Warrior Thrash | Clockwise: Uber dailymilers Spartacus T., Atilla H., and Leon recently competed in the popular Warrior Dash race held in Minneapolis-St. Paul. We’re still waiting on the race report, but early word is that it did not end well for everyone.
Braking Ranks | “All of this activity can’t be good for you,” wrote Daniel K. “Why doesn’t dailymile have a way to log hours spent playing computer games when I should be working out, or a way to record outdoor naps? There is such a bias here!”
Tough Dogs | Black toenails, swollen feet and not being able to remove her racing leathers as a result? “All part of the process,” said Terry T. after running the 135-mile Goodwater Ultramarathon. “I could do without the office comments, though.”
Star Romp | Just In Time, singer/actor Justin T. is our latest celebrity dailymiler.
Seen building his Social Network with workouts like the one he and buddy Jimmy L. just had together on the streets of New York City, the Friends with Benefits star really knows how to treat his training partners right.
“I love that I can meet new running pals online here, and then take our workouts offline,” the star of Bad Teacher said. “It’s hard to keep myself motivated to workout otherwise.”
“I’m so busy and popular and all,” he said. “Having new people to run with from the dailymile pool is just the trick, though!”
Spin Out | Layla J. is stoked about the latest crop of racing cycles to hit the market. Serious paint and features, these bikes are gonna command respect.
Swim Charge | Amped-up professional triathlete Regina posted a training photo, one of the more popular and inspirational shares of the week. Amateurs, don’t try this at home.
Jail Gait | Amanda S. doesn’t have a track to workout on now that she’s confined to an 8 X 12-foot cell.
But the recently-convicted shoplifter didn’t let that hold her back from sticking to her training plan. (“I needed shoes and a cute skort and a few other things for an upcoming race,” she said. “dailymilers understand this, but the judge — probably a couch potato — apparently didn’t.”)
Not sure when she’ll be sprung, Amanda’s maintaining her base and making do (ironically, with the limited gear she has access to). “People don’t know how lucky they are to run on a trail and in the right gear until they’re locked up,” she said.
Pity Party | As Mr. T so aptly said in Rocky 3, “I pity the fool…” Yours truly would add, “…who made it through this girl’s painful attempt at humor.” Happy April Fool’s Day!
